The Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival is coming up soon, and I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m so working on my shopping list! One thing I’ll definately be looking for is Koigu KPPPM. I love that yarn! I’m toying with the idea of making the Charlotte’s Web shawl as a Christmas gift for someone, so I recently bought several skeins of Koigu KPPPM in blues and purples. I’ll be looking for some additional colors to add to the shawl. I seem to recall seeing some KPPPM once that was all dark red and burgundy tones — I’ll be keeping my eye out for that as well. I’m being drawn to orange and red tones more and more these days.

I’m also going to be looking for sock yarn. A few years ago, my Mom gave me a very healthy supply of sock yarns for Christmas. They were all Opal self-patterning fair isle– which I really enjoyed knitting with. But I’m a bit tired of that sort of thing, and I’d like to start making socks with more interesting stitch patterns, so I’m going to be looking for some different sorts of sock yarns, perhaps some almost-solids or some hand-painted variagated yarns, or even some self-patterning yarns that aren’t fair isles!

And finally, I made the Baltic Sea Stole last summer, and I really enjoyed it — so I’m going to be on the look-out for some fingering-weight yarns to make a few more wraps or shawls for myself. In any kind of yarn, I usually shy away from solid colors — I like yarns that are a bit tweedy, and if variagated, with long repeats. So I’m going to be on the look out for something cool for a new shawl.

I’m going to Sheep and Wool with some members of my Stitch ‘n Bitch — one of our members thoughtfully created a helpful list of tips for attending the festival. It’s gonna be a great time!
