Good News

I woke up this morning to the best news I’ve seen in a while: Military Judges Dismiss Charges for 2 Detainees. These two decisions call into question the jury-rigged courts the Congress set up last year in Guantanamo for military commission trials, and have caused some in Congress to suggest much-needed revisions to the system, like the restoration of habeas corpus. Although neither detainee is likely to go free as a result of these decisions (and I have no opinion as to their guilt or innocence — I am not that familiar with their cases), this is a hopeful sign that it might be possible to fix our damaged justice system.
